to the boy who spoke to me on my first day of university,
you were the first boy to ever take interest in me without me showing it first. you came up to me and spoke to me, kept the conversation going when my anxiety told me to stop, and sat next to me when there was no one else there. we spoke about shakespeare and what we wanted to do with our lives. i was smitten.

that day was months ago and i haven’t seen you since but i still remember that conversation and the way it made me feel. you were a friend in a moment where i was entering a brave new world and felt entirely alone. you showed me that i wasn’t invisble amongst the hundreds of pretty girls milling around us. you noticed me and that’s what has stuck with me the most. maybe it was out of convenience because we were standing near each other but it still meant something to me.
